{Molasses Crinkles}

Our friend, Hollie Eastman, of Funky Junk Show, shares one of her favorites with us. She says, "I've been eating these cookies for years, when my friend, and now neighbor, Amy makes them. I finally asked for the recipe just this week and was thrilled to see that the recipe was originally from another friend of ours, Anne. It was her grandma, Heerlien's and was considered 'the best cookie of 1930-35.'

Molasses Crinkles

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

1 C. brown sugar (packed)
3/4 C. shortening
1 egg
4 tblsp. molasses
2 1/4 C. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cloves
2 tsp. baking soda

Mix first 4 ingredients  together thouroughly. Measure and blend dry ingredients together; add to first mixture, stir well. Chill.

Form dough into balls and roll in sugar. Place balls 3" apart on baking sheet. Bake until set, but not hard for 10-12 minutes. Enjoy!
