Spring Favorite: Asparagus with Lemon & Garlic

Nothing says spring like fresh asparagus. This simple preparation is light and lovely. 

1 1/2 pounds of asparagus, washed and trimmed
1 clove minced garlic
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
salt and pepper to taste

Freshly grated parmesan cheese or slivered almonds

In a large pot of water, boil asparagus until bright green and tender.  Drain.  Quickly saute garlic in olive oil.  Add asparagus, lemon juice, salt and pepper.  Garnish with grated parmesan cheese or slivered almonds.
