{Dive into: Delights of autumn}

What's not to love about this time of year? The Mermaids get a little sad about the shorter and cooler days. No more diving off the dock at the lake or soaking up the hot summer sun. While we love the fun we had, we welcome fall with ardor.

We are looking forward to the blazes of red, yellow and orange leaves reflected on the shores of our lake, the baskets of apples gathered while inhaling the woody smell of burning fireplaces, and the snugly and colorful warm sweaters and scarves that frame our cheery faces - all are upcoming delights of the turning season that make us happy that autumn will be visiting us yet again. We say dive into the sensual gifts of this cool, crisp, beautiful time of year.

Are you ready for the delights of autumn? We are...well, almost.

In this issue, the Mermaids say welcome fall, we're glad you're almost here!

Touchdown!

It's college football season and that means a party in the parking lot. Yes, tailgating is the name of the game and the Mermaids are ready! Make it: A Tailgate Party is full of tips and ideas for making the pre-game function a success. Of course, we have plenty of recipe ideas, such as Brats Done Right, a delightfully spicy version of a Bloody Mary, and many more that help get you in the team spirit.

Are you ready for fall?

September is technically three-quarters summer. But, once school starts, we know the colder weather and color displays are soon to be here. The Mermaids have wonderful fall fashion and decorating trends to report to help get you ready for fall. See Flipping Out for Fall, Fashion Splash: Fall Faux Furs, and Home Tides: Furnishing & Decor for autumnal inspiration.

Mermaids and the media

The Mermaids are "plugged in" and like to share a good thing when we find it. In this issue, Catch the Drift features a delightful blog that we just have to tell about. Do you watch the Food Network? We do and guess who came to our home town! Let us share our brush (well, almost) with a real television star in Looking for Guy. School is starting, do you know what's on your kid's iPhone? Look at how two families handle texting, Facebook and downloading aps in Techno Freaks.
