{Happy Fourth of July}

It's the most fun and exciting holiday of the summer - the July 4th! A typical holiday celebration is filled with picnicing, playing baseball or horseshoes, throwing Frisbees, and swimming at the beach. And, of course, there is the Snap! Crackle! Boom! of fireworks. We hope you have a wonderful time!

Uncle Sam and the Mermaids wish you a safe and
fun-filled Independence Day!

Counting your blessings this 4th of July

Oh, say can you see? Take a minute to reflect on the blessings of being an American in Counting Your Blessings on the Fourth of July. The sky is the limit when it comes to personal wealth, health and happiness. Wanna be a rock star? Wanna be an astronaut? Wanna be the President? It can happen. Because…It's America!

Celebrate celebrity style

In this issue of Mermaids we have three guests who share their creative ideas for fun celebrations this summer. Lynn Calwell and Corey Calwell-Lipson of founders of Green Halloween® give loads of money-saving and eco-friendly hints in Celebrating Green. Event planner, Jaime Wright, shares fun ideas to add fresh, colorful, and economical twists when planning your next barbecue in Color Your Summer Barbecue. And,  Stacy Julian, of Big Picture Classes, shows how to capture and commemorate these special times with pictures in The Easy Way to Celebrate Your Celebrations. Wow! What a line-up!

Does the idea of summer have you feeling blue?

Not everyone welcomes summer. The kids are out of school. Your neighbors are whistling on their way to work, greeting you with an enthusiasm peculiar to warm weather. And if you hear one more person ask you about your summer vacation plans, you just might throw a US map and atlas at them! Help for the Summer Blues by Theresa Borchard, who pens the daily blog "Beyond Blue" on Beliefnet.com shares inspirational tips that just might help you love summer again.
